Pittsburgh Transplants

Welcome to
Pittsburgh!!!!

One thing I've noticed in recent years is the surprising number of folks who have moved to Pittsburgh not because of a job transfer or family, but because, upon researching suitable locations, have found Pittsburgh to be an affordable place to live with plenty of cultural opportunities and a lively arts scene. We have two such transplants working as front desk associates, one from Boston (originally Michigan) and another from Maine (originally Uzbekhistan), and others who have rebounded from other locales, including New York City. One of our recently departed associates had moved four years ago from San Francisco.

This recent Post-Gazette story details the experience of former New Yorker Karen Lillis, a writer who moved to Pittsburgh from New York with her fiancee for a lower cost of living and better quality of life. New to Pittsburgh. To see the story, click here.

Pittsburghers are notorious for being hyper-critical of their own hometown. Sometimes it takes seeing your city through others' eyes to see just what you have right in front of you.
