The Heinz History Center, located in the nearby Strip District, has opened the touring "Vatican Splendors" exhibit . The 10,000 square foot exhibit, which opened last week, displays more than 200 artifacts and works of art from the vaults of the Vatican, the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church. Among the items being displayed are relics of Sts. Peter and Paul in a "reliquary," an ornate receptacle, which has never traveled outside of the Vatican. Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik called the exhibit a "gem." The exhibit runs until January 9, 2011.
