Priory Featured in Tribune Review Article on Winter Hotel Packages

We were pleased to be featured in an in depth article by Pittsburgh Tribune Review writer Rex Rutowski discussing center city Pittsburgh hotels and the packages they offer for winter travelers.  Among our various packages, I emphasized our Winter Wonderland package, which includes tickets to the PPG Place skating rink and dinner at Six Penn Kitchen.

Priory to Host Meeting of the Malts III

We're pleased to be hosting the Meeting of the Malts III at our Grand Hall.  This is a three part celebration of craft beer sponsored by the Pennsylvania Brewers Association and featuring three of the biggest names in craft beer in Pennsylvania:  Bill Covaleski, founder of Victory Brewing, Chris Troegner of Troegs Brewing, and Scott Smith of Pittsburgh's own East End Brewing.  Bill, Chris and Scott will chat panel-style about the art of beer making and what has spurred them to their success.  Part I is a private reception with Bill Covaleski;  Part II is a beer dinner pairing some fabulous food from our Grand Hall chefs with the beers of these great brewers, and Part III is an after party with Chris Troegner of Troegs Brewing.

The Pre Party is $20 per person; dinner is $60 per person; and the after party is $20 per person.  Attend all three as a VIP for $95 per person.

Contact Pennsylvania Brewers at 804-876-BEER for tickets.

North Side Sandwich Week

We were excited to have hosted the third annual North Side Sandwich Week competition a while back, featuring sandwiches from many of the best restaurants across our neighborhood of Pittsburgh's North Side.  Participating restaurants included the legendary Peppi's Subs, James Street Gastropub, Atria's PNC Park, and many others.  The food was great, as was the music, beer from Penn Brewery, and the chance to mingle with your neighbors.  It's a great event, we were proud to host it, and we look forward to hosting it again next year!

Incidentally, that's former Pittsburgh Pirate Grant Jackson in the middle photo, who was one of the celebrity judges.  Grant was a relief pitcher on the Pirates 1979 "We are Family" World Series winning team.

Tesla Motors in Pittsburgh!

We were extremely excited to have worked with Tesla Motors in providing demonstrations and test drives of their fantastic electric cars last summer.  We had two of the Model S available for inspection.  These cars are not only beautiful, they perform as well as any sports car.  It was a fun day and it was our pleasure to host Tesla.

New York Times and the Priory Hotel

We were proud and pleased that our Priory Hotel and Grand Hall were the subject of discussion of a recent New York Times article, "Former Churches Blessed with New Lives in Pittsburgh."  The article discusses the re-purposing of churches and religious buildings in Pittsburgh, and highlighted our "pint-sized" Monks' Bar, as well as our "sumptuous" Grand Hall event space.  It's a treat to receive such national recognition, particularly along side of my buddy Sean Casey's Church Brew Works in Lawrenceville!

Team Tassy Blackjack Spectacular Photos!

We were pleased and proud to have hosted the inaugural Team Tassy Blackjack Spectacular.  Team Tassy, an organization which helps families in the poorest neighborhoods of Port Au Prince escape devastating poverty by assisting them in finding employment.  The Blackjack Spectacular featured 10 blackjack tables and one roulette table with a chance to win some great prizes if you did well at the tables.  Our chefs came up with some excellent Haitian cuisine that Tassy Fils-Aime, the namesake of the organization, himself pronounced to be exceptionally authentic.

See the Team Tassy Facebook page here, which features some additional shots of the event along with some shots of our recent (October 30-November 3) trip to Haiti to meet with the Haitian families Team Tassy is assisting.

Below you'll see a shot of Tassy himself and of our emcee, WTAE special reporter and former anchor Sally Wiggin.  You'll also see some shots of our intro band, the Ambridge High School Steel Drum band, and our main act Bethany James and the Express.  A great night for a great cause.
