Priory Hospitality Group is a Finalist for Family Owned Business of the Year

Our Priory Hospitality Group was a finalist for the Family Owned Business of the Year in the 51-75 employee category.  The award is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Business Times and finalists are evaluated by a panel of judges.  Criteria included length of service, number of family employees involved in the community, financial success, and commitment to the community.  While we did not prevail for the award, we were honored to be considered with some great businesses.

Hope Through Creativity at the Grand Hall

We hosted a really fun and moving event earlier this week, Hope Through Creativity, which was a summit of high school students from throughout the region discussing the educational plight of homeless children.  The event was sponsored by the Homeless Children's Education Fund, an organization of which I'm proud to serve on the Board of Trustees.  HCEF does some great work in trying to even out educational outcomes for children experiencing homelessness, as well as educating the public about these children.

Thrilllist Best Restaurants in Pittsburgh

The website Thrilllist.com listed its 15 not to be missed Pittsburgh restaurants.  I've been to many and can recommend them, particularly Legume in Oakland, and Butcher in the Rye downtown.  We're also represented on the North Side by Carmi Family Restaurant, which is a southern/ soul food style cuisine.

Grand Hall Hosts Women in Hospitality

We had a fun event at our Grand Hall recently, hosting the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association's Women in Hospitality Get Together.  The event featured a keynote speech and some great networking among 75 or so of the top industry professionals in the Pittsburgh region.

Interesting View of the Priory from the Seagate Building

The Seagate building, located in the Strip District, housed a clean manufacturing facility for the computer chip maker for a brief time.  Since that production moved elsewhere, the building was re-purposed for office space (though it still includes the clean rooms), and now offers some pretty terrific views of the Allegheny River.  I was there for a meeting recently, and snapped the following photos of the view, which includes, prominently, our Grand Hall.
